Solid state power amplifiers

Solid state power amplifiers use semiconductor RF power devices to build transmit-chain output power in module or subsystem form. They are different from a general RF power amplifier category because the term SSPA usually implies a solid-state architecture with device combining, bias control, protection logic, monitoring and thermal management integrated around the RF power stage.

Module and subsystem role

SSPA products are used in communication transmitters, radar channels, RF test platforms, telemetry links and custom microwave systems where repeatable output power, controlled operating conditions and serviceable electronics matter. Product data normally includes operating frequency, rated output power, gain, compression behavior, duty cycle, supply voltage, current draw, cooling method, protection limits and monitor outputs.
