Power amplifier subsystems
Power amplifier subsystems package the power section of an RF or microwave transmit chain into a controlled assembly. A subsystem may combine driver gain, one or more power amplifier stages, bias sequencing, current and temperature monitoring, reflected-power protection, filtering and mechanical thermal hardware.
Transmit-power behavior
Important data includes operating band, RF drive level, saturated or linear output power, gain flatness, efficiency, duty cycle, supply voltage, current draw, VSWR tolerance, shutdown behavior, connector format and cooling method. These values define how the subsystem fits into communication transmitters, radar exciters, jammer chains, broadcast equipment and high-power RF test systems.
