Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillators (VCXO)
A VCXO keeps the stability of a crystal oscillator while allowing a limited frequency pull through a control voltage. Its role is fine correction, not wideband RF tuning.
System role
VCXOs are used in clock recovery, reference cleanup, synchronization loops, PLL reference paths, telecom timing and instruments that need controlled correction around a nominal frequency.
Data to confirm
Typical records include nominal frequency, pull range, frequency stability, phase noise, jitter, control voltage range, output logic format, supply current and operating temperature.
